Welcome to Dukinfield Town

We have a great heritage. In 2000BC (approx) our forefathers originally settled on the first hill overlooking the Cheshire plains which at that point gave them a tactical advantage over other local tribes and societies.  The settlement grew and was named after the de Dokenfeld family who were, in effect, the local Lord and family.  The name is said to come from Dokenvelt or the field of the Raven, this implies it was once a battle field where reportedly the Danes were defeated in the 10th century. In 1190 a new settlement had been established. This area was granted municipal borough status in 1899. 
 

This is now our Dukinfield, the people. What happens to this town, this decade, is down to us.
